A Veneer is a thin layer of tooth-coloured material (eg.porcelain or composite) that is attached onto the front of the tooth to improve the aesthetics. Indications for a Veneer may be a tooth slightly damaged by trauma or might be badly discoloured for some reason. Or to correct skew teeth for aesthetic reasons.
- Veneers can greatly improve your appearance. They hide imperfections with minimally invasive tooth preparation.
- Veneers can also protect teeth from further damage. Tooth surface can be etched away by acid present in the mouth as a result of diet or dietary habits. Or surfaces damaged by incorrect tooth brushing habits. This can make teeth very sensitive to hot and cold. In this situation, veneers can protect the teeth.
- If the tooth is strong but badly stained or deformed, a veneer is often a better option than a crown for improving a tooth's appearance.
